But at last\u00a0I can say it: My little overachiever\u00a0is an official Bram Stoker Award nominee in the category of Superior Achievement in a First Novel.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1577\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1577\" style=\"width: 486px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/nicolewillson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Screen-Shot-2022-02-23-at-8.21.23-AM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1577 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/nicolewillson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Screen-Shot-2022-02-23-at-8.21.23-AM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"486\" height=\"354\" srcset=\"http:\/\/nicolewillson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Screen-Shot-2022-02-23-at-8.21.23-AM.png 486w, http:\/\/nicolewillson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Screen-Shot-2022-02-23-at-8.21.23-AM-300x219.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 486px) 100vw, 486px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1577\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I saw that there were six nominees and instantly thought &#8220;Crap, someone forgot to take my name off the final ballot&#8221; before I saw the info about the tie. Ha. Screw you, impostor syndrome.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Being on the preliminary ballot was exciting enough, but this? I&#8217;ve been letting my inner Sally Field out to play all day.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/nicolewillson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sallyfield.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1580 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/nicolewillson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sallyfield-300x232.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"http:\/\/nicolewillson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sallyfield-300x232.jpg 300w, http:\/\/nicolewillson.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/sallyfield.jpg 531w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I wanted\u00a0to keep my expectations\u00a0for <em>Tidepool<\/em> modest when it first came out, but there was always a voice in the back of my head saying &#8220;But wouldn&#8217;t it be cool <em>if<\/em>&#8230;?&#8221; I tried\u00a0to ignore that voice as much as possible, celebrate <em>Tidepool&#8217;s<\/em> actual wins, and not think about the <em>if<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Today I&#8217;m celebrating the <em>if<\/em>. I am shouting the <em>if<\/em> from the rooftops. Sometimes the <em>if<\/em> happens, and when it does it&#8217;s the most amazing feeling.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you again to everyone who has supported <em>Tidepool<\/em> on this journey. And if you&#8217;re one of those writers who feels like everyone around you is getting great news while you&#8217;re getting nothing, I&#8217;ve been there too. Trust me and believe that your day will come.
